Opened in 1887, Raffles Singapore is one of the few remaining great 19th century hotels in the world. Till today, its architecture is perfectly preserved both inside and out, giving it an intoxicating blend of luxury, history and classic colonial design.

Within its walls are 115 expansive suites each of which is framed by polished teak verandas and white marble colonnades, clustered around lush tropical gardens. Suites are serviced by the legendary Raffles butlers and offer guests every modern convenience necessary.

In 1899, Raffles was the first hotel in the city to hire a French chef which introduced visitors and locals alike to to authentic French flavours. Almost 120 years later and once again the hotel is at the forefront of a culinary renaissance presenting local favourites to fine dining and curated classics. Raffles’ exciting dining experiences combine the hotel’s well-loved culinary traditions with contemporary dining concepts by renowned celebrity chefs.

Pampering body treatments are available at the Raffles Arita Spa and the hotel’s fitness centre is available for guests to work out. Other facilities include the hotel’s own museum and a Victorian-style theatre where performances are staged. Guests can enjoy the luxury of 24-hour butler service and an outdoor pool with bar.

Not a formal bar, but rather tables placed next to another facing Bras Basah Road, it was a vantage point from which male visitors surveyed the procession of ladies.
