Vietnam, once the domain of the back packing crowd, is now host to high end hotels and diverse experiences which means that it is possible to explore this magical country in style. Most guests who choose to visit Vietnam do so as part of a touring itinerary, taking in the sights and sounds of the following places.

Hanoi - This former French colony is slowly transforming into a modern Asian city where old meets new at every turn. To wander the streets of Hanoi is an experience in itself and a cyclo (three wheeled bycicle) tour throught the streets of HAnoi's old quarter is the ideal introduction to the sights, sounds and smells of this fascinating city.

Halong Bay - A three hour drive from Hanoi is Halong Bay, a World Heritage site that is simply stunning; created (so the Vietnamese believe) when a dragon lashed its tail and created the thousands of limestone and dolomite outcrops that rise from the emerald waters.

Hoi An - The first thing that surprises about the historical city of Hoi An is the tranquility. The pace of life is slower in this old trading port, just an hours flight from Hanoi. It's all but compulsory to have at least one item of clothing made in Vietnam and Hoi An has no shortage of tailors offering a bespoke service.

Ho Chi Min City (formerly Saigon) - With its traditional markets alongside designer shopping malls, 10 million inhabitants and six million motorbikes, Ho Chi Min City is undoubtedly the most western of Vietnam's cities.

There is not really a right or wrong time to visit Vietnam as most months of the year will experience both sunshine and rain in varying quantities. Vietnam has a tropical monsoon climate and the weather in Vietnam is dictated by two seasons - the southwest monsoon (hot and wet) from April to September and the northeast monsoon from October to late March (cool and not as wet).

Temperatures are fairly constant throughout, with the exception of Hanoi and the far north (which can be very cold in December and January) and the Central Highlands (which can be slightly cooler than the rest of the country year-round).

There is no perfect time to visit Vietnam. Generally speaking, destinations in the north such as Hanoi and Ha Long Bay are great in October, November and December, as there's little rain and mostly clear skies and temperate conditions. The coastal stretch from Hue down to Nha Trang is great in the first half of the year, from January through to July, while Saigon and the Mekong Delta are best from November through to February or March.

Vietnam is a fantastic destination to visit as part of a honeymoon. More and more couples are in seek of alternative destinations that combine a mix of sightseeing and relaxation and what can be more perfect than combining the beautiful sights of Hoi An and Ha Long Bay with the coast line and beaches of.

There are various itineraries Prestbury Worldwide Resorts can recommend so speak to one of our Vietnam specialists to create the perfect Vietnam honeymoon unique to you and your partner.

Fly into either Hanoi or Hoi Chi Min City (formerly Saigon) direct with Vietnam Airlines or there are many daily indirect options with most Intentional Airlines
