Discover Alberta

Alberta shares the Rocky Mountain range with its neighbor British Columbia and the province also offers World Class ski resorts.  Originally known for supplying the crude oil industry, Alberta is now famous around the World for the Calgary Stampede, which showcases the area's 'Cowboy Culture.’

The Capital of Alberta is Edmonton and the city is annually the home of the Edmonton Folk Festival and the ‘Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage site dedicated to preserving over 6000 years of Plains Buffalo Culture.

Alberta is also the home to two of the most beautiful National Parks in North America, Banff and Jasper, perfect for adventure sports in the Summer and offering World-Class Ski resorts in the Winter.

Banff

The vibrant town of Banff is located in the spectacular Banff National Park. For anyone seeking traditional Canadian hospitality then a visit to Downtown Banff is a must with its array of bars, live music, and a wide choice of restaurants that cater to all tastes and budgets.

A Tri-area lift pass is for many a popular choice and covers the three ski areas of Lake Louise ski (45 minutes’ drive), Mount Norquay (10 minutes’ drive), and Sunshine Village (25 minutes’ drive). There is also a frequent ski bus service, included with a pre-booked Tri-area lift pass, which operates from a good selection of the Banff hotels to all three ski areas. Although Mt Norquay is often referred to as Banff’s “local” hill, the resort should not be under-rated.

There is a good mix of easy trails as well as some more challenging ones which include; Memorial Bowl, Temptation, and Lone Pine. Sunshine Village has some of the highest skiing in Canada. It has three mountains: Mount Standish, Lookout Mountain (high above the tree line with views across the Great Divide), and Goat’s Eye (with some of the best tree skiing on its lower slopes).
