The Golden State of California is a land full of hope and promise boasting world famous attractions and hidden must-see gems. It’s a place of natural beauty and vibrant energy like no other state in America attracting the young, creative and wealthy.

The Golden Gate Bridge in central California is the gateway into the fast moving city of San Francisco. Here you can visit Alcatraz and Silicon Valley before heading out to the rolling hillsides of the California Wine Country. World-renowned Napa Valley is an ideal place to stop and sample the fine wine and good food of this land, rich in agriculture and vineyards. Death Valley can also be found in this part of California and is the largest National Park in the U.S. covering an incredible 5000 square miles. It’s somewhere you can explore extinct volcanic craters and the soaring sand dunes of the hot desert.  Further adventure can also be enjoyed at Palm Springs where an aerial tram ride can take you on a journey high above the desert heat in search of cooler temperatures.

Southern California celebrates life to the full and it’s hard to know where to begin and what to do first. Los Angeles is an outstanding city when it comes to art and culture, with an array of theme parks, architectural landmarks, museums, galleries and all the glitz and glamour of Sunset Boulevard. L.A. is also known for its famous beaches where the waves ride high and the surfers gather. And, high up in the Hollywood Hills sit the jaw-dropping mansions of many an A list celebrity and movie star. Running through the heart of Beverley Hills is Rodeo Drive, shopping mecca for the rich and famous and for many, a place to window shop and people watch at no cost at all.

Northern California and the High Sierra are a popular place for those seeking outdoor adventure. Here you can hike through the Redwoods and explore the Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. It is a stunning area full of natural rugged beauty and breathtaking scenery. A little further north across the Nevada border peacefully sits Lake Tahoe in all its glory. This part of California is most loved for its world-famous ski-resorts offering deep white snow and clear blue skies as well as art and music festivals throughout the summer months. You can still pan for gold in the rivers of the Gold County, although white-water rafting and kayaking are more popular these days!

Cuisine is varied using only the freshest ingredients from California’s land and sea and is the ideal place to sample surf and turf. You can choose from small low-cost diners to fine dining restaurants and there’s always a great choice of local Californian wine to sample too.

For many, life in California is the iconic American dream. It’s a place of great natural beauty, offering a diverse array of experiences and adventures. Whether it is surfing on a golden sun-drenched beach, skiing down a snow-covered mountain or driving along infamous Route 66, California won’t fail to disappoint.

California’s climate is quite often compared to that of the Mediterranean, due to its warm, dry summers, and mild, wet winters. On the coast, average yearly temperatures range between the low 40s°F (4.4°C) and in the high 70s°F (21.1°C) and 80s°F (26.7°C). Inland, summers are generally hot and dry, and at higher altitudes the weather is more typical of a four seasons, cycle with cold, snowy winters making this popular for skiers. San Francisco is famous for its fog, especially in the summer, whilst Los Angeles is known for its year round, consistently sunny, desert-like, coastal climate.

Getting to California is simple as many major airlines fly into cities all over the state from a number of regions across the UK and Ireland.

Car Hire is the most popular way of exploring this large state and is widely available.
