South Africa
Use the drop-down menu below to explore South Africa.
South Africa is often described as “the world in one country” with its hugely contrasting landscapes, languages, wildlife and cultures. Regularly voted as one of the top destinations in the world for travel year round, this country offers diversity like nowhere else.
From the rolling hills of the Cape winelands to the stark and emotive Battlefields. From the abundant flora and fauna of the National Parks to the vibrant lifestyle of Cape Town. And from the stunning coastlines and mountains to the sheer excitement of Great White Shark cage diving; South Africa provides a haven in which to celebrate a passion for travel. Combine all this with over 300 days of sunshine a year and you have the perfect holiday destination.
The quality of accommodation is generally excellent and ranges from 5 star city hotels through to luxurious safari lodges, which can be combined into a multi-centred itinerary with endless possibilities for activities and experiences. These are as varied as your own imagination and could include unwinding on the beach, wine tasting, playing on world-class golf courses, hot air ballooning, wildlife viewing, swimming with sharks or whale watching, to name but a few.
The country’s legendary wildlife ranges from penguins and meerkats to the spectacular Big Five. Winter in South Africa (June-October) is mild and game viewing is at its best during the dry season between May and August and with so many game reserves and national parks, the opportunities are almost endless.
For those restricted by time, there are still plenty of choices for the shorter itinerary. Combine the culture and heritage of Cape Town’s Robben Island and the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with a couple of nights in the winelands or a drive along the Garden Route followed by a couple of nights safari. Alternatively Johannesburg is becoming more popular with its excellent safari options.
