New York is located on one of the world’s largest natural harbours with much of the city built upon the three islands of Manhattan, Staten and Long Island. It is unarguably the most densely populated city within North America receiving over 50 million visitors a year.

Getting there is easy, with three airports serving New York City and receiving both domestic and international flights from across the world. Within the city there are over 12,000 yellow cabs and a subway system that operates 24/7 allowing, you to discover New York both by day and night in relative ease. However, for many, experiencing this energetic city by foot is by far the most straight forward and least stressful approach.

Busy days can be spent exploring world-famous museums and must-see sights including the Empire State Building, Times Square, and the Rockefeller Centre. Leisurely strolls can be taken through leafy Central Park whilst, a ferry ride out to the Statue of Liberty allows you to sit back and take in the views of this magical city’s infamous skyline. For many, the tempting boutiques and luxury shops of both Fifth and Madison Avenue will be too hard to resist. Whether it’s a stroll into Tiffany’s or heading for the larger department stores such as Macy’s, a shopping spree in New York has to be a given.

By night, you can continue your cultural journey of this vibrant city, discovering the sights and sounds with a Broadway Musical or perhaps ice-skating in Central Park. Times Square lights up the night sky and dining across the city allows you to experience the extensive variety of World cuisine that’s to hand. New York deli’s offer freshly baked bagels, Michelin starred restaurants attract the gastronomes and the modern take on New York city street food, provides mouth-watering dishes for on-the-move diners.

New York is a fast-moving cosmopolitan city with its finger on the pulse. Bursting with life, endless attractions, diverse cuisine and around the clock entertainment, this really is a city that never sleeps.

New York is host to a wide range of weather conditions that showcase all four seasons throughout the year. Summer months can be notoriously hot with temperatures soaring to highs of 29 celsius. Spring and Autumn brings the pink blossom and the colourful autumnal foliage, whilst the long winter months experience much colder conditions with temperatures dropping to -4 celsius and substantial amounts of snowfall.

The city of New York can be accessed by three airports. John F Kennedy airport (JFK) is located in Queens (at the south end of the Van Wyck Expressway) and primarily handles international flights. LaGuardia airport (LGA), also in Queens, on the Grand Central Parkway, mainly handles domestic flights. Newark airport (EWR) is located in Newark, New Jersey and handles both domestic and international flights. It’s a little further out from the city than the other two airports, but it is generally less crowded and has more modern facilities.
