Discover Antigua

The picturesque island of Antigua is rich in beauty and boasts 365 white sand beaches, lush landscapes, and a true Caribbean laid-back pace. The graceful and welcoming contours of Antigua inspired Columbus to name the island in honour of a statue of the Virgin in Seville Cathedral, Santa Maria de la Antigua.

Antigua’s shape is made up of headlands branching off in all directions, enclosing superb bays, used so successfully by navies and smugglers over the centuries and now more peaceably by sailors.

A drive around Antigua’s 108 square miles showcases Antigua’s idyllic charm, superb bays, numerous harbours, and secluded beaches. Shirley Heights, a historic hilltop military installation in the South of the island, enjoys spectacular views of English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard with a fabulous party atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon. ‘Stingray City’ provides a thrilling ocean adventure where guests can snorkel amongst and even touch and hold a Stingray in their natural habitat – a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Antigua enjoys sunny weather and has a tropical climate and a warm average daytime temperature of 28-30°C. The dry season is traditionally considered January to May and the wet season June to November. Hurricane season is generally June-October.
