Southern Spain

The southern regions of Spain are famed not only for their cultural and historical places of interest and scenic beauty but for superb sandy beaches, warm seas, and exclusive resorts.

In particular, the coastal strip which includes chic Marbella, glamorous Puerto Banus and elegant Estepona is a magnet for the rich and famous with an abundance of first-class restaurants and bars, as well as some fabulous yachts moored in the marinas along the coast.

An hour’s drive inland from Marbella is the majestic city of Ronda, famous for its dramatic views from the bridge which spans the deep El Tajo gorge below over the Serrania de Ronda mountains.

The region’s numerous golf courses make the Costa del Sol one of Europe’s leading golfing destinations and the country’s intense energy and vigour for life bursts through in its food, fine wine, dramatic flamenco dancing and spectacular bullfights making Spain a vibrant and exciting country to explore.

Where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean coasts lays the Spanish region of Andalucía. It is an area of stark contrasts, from the white peaks of the Sierra Nevada to the low lying green plains and from the bright lights of the coastal resorts to the volcanic landscapes of the Tabernas Desert. Often referred to as 'the bridge between two continents', Andalucía, with a population of more than seven million, covers more than seventeen per cent of Spanish territory, making it the largest single region in the whole country.
