Discover Cyprus

Cyprus has been a destination I have visited a few times. Blessed with good weather from March through to November it's always a good choice for an out-of-summer season escape. I would highly recommend a visit to the archaeological site called Tombs of the Kings and discovering the island by car is so easy as they drive on the same side as the UK.

I have visited Cyprus many times and at different times of the year.  I have stayed in Paphos which is my favourite place to be as there is a good mix of everything here and can be as quiet or lively as you want it to be. There are many different choices and flavours of restaurants and cafes.  It's also, a great base to get out and about to see the island. 

I have been to Cyprus lots of times as a family with children and now as a couple. The hotels are of an excellent standard and cater for all ages. The beaches vary from rocky to sandy. There are plenty of things to do such as; the Tomb of the Kings in Paphos, the Troodos Mountains with the pine-clad, a few waterparks and a zoo! There are plenty of excellent restaurants especially if you love Greek food. 

I have been to Cyprus several times, visiting both Paphos and Protaras. Protaras has beautiful beaches with plenty of watersports, bars and restaurants. We visited Nicosia and The Troodos Mountains and it's amazing how we left the scorching heat in Protaras, and as we climbed the Troodos Mountains, it went very misty and rainy. Paphos has Blue flag beaches and a lovely palm tree-lined waterfront, plenty of bars and tavernas for evening nights out, with a lovely harbour to sip a cocktail and watch the world go by.

I visited Cyprus staying at the Asimina Suites a lovely hotel and fab beach. It was an easy walk into Paphos along the walkway. I have also stayed at the Four Seasons in Limassol where a lot of money has been spent on the harbour area and there are several new hotels to be found there too now.

I recently returned from Cyprus after an amazing trip to Paphos. We got to explore the island doing a wine tasting, enjoyed local village taverna dining and also visited the Kourion Ancient Amphitheatre and ruins. We had a night around Paphos harbour/castle and a drink in the old town followed by a meal in a taverna. 

There is so much to do in Cyprus, from Paphos staying at Aphrodite Hills which is a small village-style property with a hotel and private villas, with its own golf course, tennis academy, beach club and village square. Nissi Beach is beautiful and has clear waters, gently shelving and soft sand, and Ayia Napa is the place to be for lots of nightlife and a lovely marina/beach during the day - it is also close to Waterworld, one of the best waterparks in Europe.

I've enjoyed quite a few visits over the years to this lovely island mainly over the winter months. I've hired a car and experienced a morning in the sunshine relaxing by the pool before heading up to the Troodos Mountains and having a snowball fight with my Mum! The locals are charming, the beaches are wonderful, the food is divine and there are some first-class luxury resorts available up and down the coast.
