Wildlife
The rainforests of Borneo house one of the world’s richest and most diverse ecosystems, home to some amazing wildlife. Squirrels and snakes that fly, deer the size of cats, plants that eat insects (and small animals). Home to the orangutan, the proboscis monkey, the hornbill and the silverleaf monkey also the world’s largest flower, the Rafflesia (that can grow to the size of a coffee table), experts believe that there are some species of flora and fauna yet to be discovered.
Sabah
Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah and the gateway to the wild and rugged Kinabalu Park, where you will find the state’s most famous icon the majestic Mount Kinabalu, reputed to be one of the highest in Southeast Asia. Sabah is the ideal destination for eco-adventures with stunning tropical islands and luxuriant nature. With soft sandy beaches and stunning sunsets along with excellent resort hotels this is the perfect place to discover the delights of Borneo.
The best time to visit Borneo is between March and October, when the island is hot, humid, and at its driest. This makes it one of Southeast Asia's few summer destinations. It is also the best time to see orangutans in the wild, while turtles can be seen on Lankayan Island between June and September
