Luxury Barbados Uncovered .....

Posted in Travel Writing, Barbados by Karen Platt on 13th Jun 2018

The West Coast of Barbados is synonymous with luxury and style, where luxury hotels rub shoulders alongside local chattel houses, small boutiques inter-mingle with designer malls and beachfront mansions line the water’s edge next to world-class restaurants. This is Barbados, a cosmopolitan picture island of contrasts…

Nestled against its powder white sands, the platinum west coast has beautiful beaches and no shortage of five star eateries. Acclaimed restaurants include the vibrant but laid back Lone Star, the elegantly classic The Tides and the wonderfully extravagant The Cliff with its theatrical setting and stunning ocean views. Holetown’s 1st and 2nd streets offer even more choice of bars, restaurants and boutique shops whilst across the road, Lime Grove boasts designer shops and cinema with waiter service.

For those who care to venture away from the west coast, hiring a car and driving to the east of the island provides the perfect contrast. Here you will find rugged scenery, the crashing waves of the Atlantic and fields of sugar cane.

Barbados’ historic plantation houses unearth some of the islands impressive history whilst a visit to one of the two working rum distilleries provides the perfect pit-stop to sample a Bajan rum punch.

Of course, the west coast boasts an array of luxury accommodation, each with its own individual style and character. The following pages offer a taste as to what each hotel has to offer, alongside our own insider guide.
