Utter Luxury at Nana Princess Hotel, Crete

Posted in Travel Writing by Jan Locke on 15th May 2023

Nana Princess is one of the latest and hottest properties to arrive in Crete and for three nights I was fortunate enough to experience and enjoy all that it had to offer.

Only twenty minutes drive from Heraklion Airport, the hotel sits on the outskirts of Hersonissos, not too far from the neighbouring village of Stallas on the north of the island. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the warm Cretan welcome and genuine hospitality that seems to naturally ooze from the entire hotel team. After a refreshing glass of homemade lemonade with a splash of local honey, I headed off to my Deluxe Junior Suite with its very own individual heated pool. Waiting to bamboozle me was an impressive array of technology but thankfully my new-found-friend Thomias was on hand to give a clear demonstration of every fancy gadget that included anything from chromotherapy lighting to electric curtains and blinds as well as full-size TVs that cleverly disguised themselves as large mirrors! Once I had got the hang of the blue tooth surround sound system and tucked into the welcome pastries and fruit it was time to unwind and check out my very own individual heated pool which did not disappoint!

Foodies will love the choice and quality of cuisine that awaits.  Days began at Carpe Diem indulging in the most impressive breakfast display featuring everything you could think of.  As a coeliac, I can tell you I didn’t miss out on a thing. From gluten-free waffles and pancakes to an entire free-from section the hotel has thought of everything and nothing was ever too much trouble. Foody highlights for me included mouth-watering steak at the Meat-In-Point Restaurant, incredibly paired wine, endless fresh fish and seafood at Eternal Blue followed by the most incredible salads and divine desserts. I have to admit I am one of those people who just loves anything to do with food be it on TV or in front of me so when I accidentally bumped into 2019 Masterchef winner Irine Tzortzoglou, my stay in Crete became even more memorable!

For anyone worried about piling on the pounds, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as a large outdoor pool to burn off the calories. Another highlight is that Nana Princess guests also have free access to a huge array of leisure facilities at the neighbouring sister hotel Nana Golden Beach. For the less energetic (like me!) I would highly recommend paying at least one visit to the Royal Wellness Club which offers indulgent spa experiences including their new and rather unique Star Sign Spa Menu offering treatments and packages that nurture the spiritual elements of the body and mind to promote connection and reflection.

Although every guest is treated like royalty, there is an impressive VIP service that the hotel does offer including its very own private jet service that can collect you from the UK and whisk you over to Crete. For those keen to experience Santorini for the day then the hotel's helicopter service is ideal. I could go on praising Nana Princess for much longer but I think you would have much more fun experiencing this delightful property first-hand as I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
