Posh Nosh
The West Coast of Barbados plays host to chic oceanfront dining including the stylish Lone Star serving European fare (look out for the beer-battered cod and mushy peas!), whilst the elegant Tides Restaurant serves fresh seafood and meat dishes in truly exquisite surroundings. Diners looking for a leisurely lunch and a relaxed ambience with stunning ocean views will enjoy The Fish Pot’s fresh fish and Caribbean flavours. Sea Shed on Mullins Beach is popular for more casual beachside dining, and for a ‘feet in the sand’ laidback experience, a visit to La Cabane is a must with tasty BBQ grilled meat and fish. No trip to Barbados is complete without a visit to the rugged East Coast where The Atlantis serves a superb Bajan Sunday buffet.
New Kids on the Block
The past few years have seen several restaurant changes in Barbados, with some exciting eateries emerging on the island. Cala Roca is a chic Tapas restaurant whose stylish surroundings perfectly match the cuisine. Paul Owens at The Beach House is a name familiar to island regulars as the former head chef of the Cliff Restaurant. The Cliff reopened in 2022 under new ownership with some stunning new interiors and still retains its reputation as the island's most exclusive restaurant. A firm West Coast favourite is QP Bistro, previously The Cliff Beach Club, and is the in-place to dine while listening to exceptional live jazz musicians. Highly recommended!
Oistins Fish Fry
For an authentic Bajan experience, head to Oistins Fish Fry on a Friday or Saturday night and join locals and tourists who flock to this vibrant fish market. Located in Christ Church, this traditional fishing village comes alive at the weekend with over 30 vendors selling freshly caught seafood including flying fish, mahi-mahi and snapper alongside authentic macaroni pie and Bajan jerk chicken (washed down with a Banks beer or rum punch of course!). Live music fills the air and dancers groove to Reggae sounds whilst locals kick back and relax with a game of cards or dominoes. If you’re seeking a laid-back night, Bajan-style, a visit to Oistins is a must.
