Use the drop-down menu below to explore Cape Verde.
Cape Verde is located off the West Coast of Africa and consists of 10 islands within the Atlantic Ocean. It enjoys good weather year-round with average temperatures similar to the Canary Islands and has over recent years become a much more favourable choice for a winter sun escape.
Cape Verde is for most visitors primarily all about the beaches and the warm weather but, with 10 islands to explore there are a number of other holiday experiences to be enjoyed including fantastic water sports on the islands of Sal and Boa Vista. Much of the Cape Verde nightlife is hotel based, however the locals’ lively spirit can be seen in the main resorts at the weekends. Whichever island you choose, expect to experience a melting pot of cultures as there’s a fabulous mixture of African, Brazilian and Portuguese influences which is evident in the island’s music, fashion and of course food with its Creole and Portuguese specialities.
August is the hottest month in Cape Verde with an average temperature of 27°C (81°F) and the coldest is January at 23°C (73°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 9 in April. The wettest month is September with an average of 77mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in August when the average sea temperature is 27°C (81°F).
TUI operate the UK's only direct flights to Cape Verde. The airline serves Sal's Amílcar Cabral International Airport (SID), and Boa Vista's Aristides Pereira Airport (BVC). Indirect flights to other islands are also available.
